cannot make it....these words were echoing through my mind as i made my way to City Square.... My whole experience of going through the new custom by bus has not been very pleasant indeed.
Ok it is bigger now, there are more counters now for both cars, motorbikes and people going in by buses... however the negative sides of it basically covered whatever good points it had...
I was already prepared for the bottle-neck situation as I read abt it in the news. So this morning at 11.15am on a weekday, the bus I was on took around 15 mins to clear the queue before reaching the checkpoint, compared to the almost negligible time that took me at the old custom, and that is comparing to a saturday morning experience.
Got off the bus, checked passport, and I went to the end of the custom where the bus bay was. Ok cool, I could see my neighbourhood and could easily walk home. However, there was not no exits to that side of the custom. The only way out was the bus lanes, which I doubt the officers would allow me to walk on. Went to asked the female officer about how I could get out to that side, and she replied the only way was to walk the passage that linked to the City Square, and btw, City Square is on the other side of the custom. I was baffled....it was like I am in a park with fence, my house is just outside the park but the fence is blocking me, and the exit is at the other side of the park....
So I walked through the passage to City Square, got lost a bit...finally saw the bridge that connected the custom to City Square...did not see escalators or stairs that would get me to the entrance of the mall...went through the mall, got down 3 floors....proceed to entrance and waited for mum....and mum had to come down by another way because the route she always used is jammed by cars exiting the custom....
Time check...12pm....
So basically....in order to come into Malaysia during peak hour, you will face jam at Woodlands, proceed by jam at Malaysia custom, and if you are heading to downtown, be prepared for a jam that started from the traffic light junction....
Enough said....
